Our Story

Aki-eh Dibinwewziwin (ADLP) is one of Canada’s largest Indigenous and Canadian-owned Underground Mine Contracting Partnerships – and the mining contractor of choice on the traditional and territorial lands in the world-renowned Greater Sudbury basin.

Atikameksheng Anishnawbek (AA) and Wahnapitae First Nation (WFN) share a 51% ownership of ADLP. Technica Mining with its quarter century history as a leading underground mining and construction company is the minority shareholder and operating partner.

It’s not just about being Indigenous-owned; it’s about how this ownership and partnership model influences operations, decision-making, and community engagement. The integration of traditional Indigenous knowledge and sustainable mining practices is not just a differentiator but a competitive advantage in the mining sector.

Our “Why”

For as long as mining has existed in the Greater Sudbury basin, local First Nations have seen their traditional lands mined with little to no benefit nor oversight.

Aki-eh Dibinwewziwin Limited Partnership (ADLP) is a major step for AA and WFN on the path to true sovereignty and independence. Generations to come will benefit from the high-value careers and lucrative business opportunities this venture will create.

Our name—Aki-eh Dibinwewziwin—was given jointly by the elders and language keepers and means “to be owned by the earth”. With that great responsibility entrenched in our reason-for-being, the partnership promotes sustainable mining practices while respecting Indigenous rights and traditions.

Given society’s growing demand for minerals, we believe there is no better time for a partnership like this to make a real difference for Indigenous communities.
